Program Overview

The 310 Clock Hour/28 Quarter Hour Spa Arts & Sciences Certificate Program prepares massage therapists to work successfully in the spa environment. This program brings together and integrates the dynamic dimensions of the various elements of the spa experience. In addition to common Spa modalities such as hydrotherapy, aromatherapy, body wraps, exfoliation/scrubs and stone therapy, course work also includes lymph drainage, spa management, pathophysiology of skin and other sciences associated with spa treatments.

Program Objectives

  • Prepare the student for entry level employment as a massage therapist in the Spa Massage industry.
  • To demonstrate a practical knowledge of indications and contraindications for specific spa modalities.
  • To demonstrate proficiency in common spa modalities, such as body wraps, scrubs and hydrotherapy techniques.
  • To employ effective methods of communication and languaging in order to increase efficiency, productivity, consistency and quality in the delivery of spa services.
