CSHA is approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Division of Private Occupational Schools. CSHA is owned and operated by Health Care Associates, Inc., a Colorado Corporation, since 1986. CSHA is governed by a board of directors comprised of Dennis and Gina Simpson.

The school began offering continuing education classes in Evergreen, Colorado in 1986 and began offering Massage Therapy Programs in 1988. In 1993 CSHA moved to its current location in Lakewood, CO.

In 1998 CSHA was granted accreditation by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and College of Technology (ACCSCT).

CSHA began offering an Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) Massage Therapy Degree in 2001.

In November 2001 CSHA was approved by the U.S. Department of Education to offer Title IV Financial Aid to students.
